Take my Breath Away Thursday

Take My Breath Away is a new memo created by pageturnersblog.com. Each Thursday I will post quotes that takes my breath away.

“I had my arms around his waist, smiling as I looked up at him. Being with Alex made me so completely happy, in an easy, uncomplicated way that I hadn't felt since I was a small child. "I love you," I said. In the five days we'd been there, it was the first time I'd said the words to him in English; they just slipped out.

Alex's expression went very still as he looked down at me, his dark hair stirred by the slight breeze. I picked up a sudden wave of his emotions, and they almost brought tears to my eyes. Gently, he took my face in his hands and kissed me.

"I love you, too," he said against my lips.”

-L.A Weatherly (Angel Burn)

“His hands as he worked were deft and sure, but so gentle -- he was being careful not to hurt me any more than he had to. I sat very still, hardly daring to move.

I was in love with him.

The knowledge swept through me, truer than anything I'd ever known. Oh, my God, I was in love with him.”

RIPPLE

Ripple by Mandy Hubbard
 Pages: 272
 Series: N/A
Released Date: July 21, 2011
Publisher:  Razorbill

Goodreads | Amazon

Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. Each day she goes to school like a normal teenager, and each night she must swim, or the pain will be unbearable. She is a siren - a deadly mermaid destined to lure men to their watery deaths. After a terrible tragedy, Lexi shut herself off from the world, vowing to protect the ones she loves. But she soon finds herself caught between a new boy at school who may have the power to melt her icy exterior, and a handsome water spirit who says he can break Lexi's curse if she gives up everything else. Lexi is faced with the hardest decision she's ever had to make: the life she's always longed for - or the love she can't live without?

The cover is nice, but the guy don't seem to be like Cole.. not at all... but at least Lexi is pretty with the shiny scales on her leg to represent that she's not human exactly.

I simply love this book, not only because it's about Sirens, but also have a sweet romance and the lesson of letting go of someone you love dearly. I really love listening and being in Lexi's life. How she met Steven and his best friend, Cole, then to her drowning him. How she have to swim, so she don't hurt anyone, but found someone by her lake. It was a beautifully written book and I love Cole and Lexi together. I love Cole and how he have always loved her, but didn't say anything because she was in love with his best friend, This story is just like a love story. I really love it.There is some parts that can make you want to punch that pretty face of her and screamed, but it was a good book. Cole was the best, always chasing her, loving her and her finally letting go of her love and of her curse.

5/5 STARS for the plot, the writing and the couple!

Take my Breath Away Thursday

Take My Breath Away is a new memo created by pageturnersblog.com. Each Thursday I will post quotes that takes my breath away.

“You always have a choice.”

His words were blunt and devoid of sympathy, and I stared at him as we returned to the vicinity of the carriage, without an inkling of what to make of this encounter."

-Narian <3 from Legacy (He’s MINE!)

“And I can no more stop worrying about you than I can stop myself from breathing.”

THE VESPERTINE

The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell
 Pages: 293
 Series: The Vespertine # 1
Release Date: March 7, 2011
Publisher: Harcourt Children's Books

Goodreads | Amazon

It’s the summer of 1889, and Amelia van den Broek is new to Baltimore and eager to take in all the pleasures the city has to offer. But her gaiety is interrupted by disturbing, dreamlike visions she has only at sunset—visions that offer glimpses of the future. Soon, friends and strangers alike call on Amelia to hear her prophecies. However, a forbidden romance with Nathaniel, an artist, threatens the new life Amelia is building in Baltimore. This enigmatic young man is keeping secrets of his own—still, Amelia finds herself irrepressibly drawn to him.

When one of her darkest visions comes to pass, Amelia’s world is thrown into chaos. And those around her begin to wonder if she’s not the seer of dark portents, but the cause.

Okay, this book was so confusing! I love Amelia and her visions. I love the author's details, but it was all so confusing. I got lost like in the first few pages and had to read it again and that rarely happens. The pace was painfully slow for like half of the book. The confusion and the slowness, I would give that part two stars.

The cover is a three and a half, because I saw that cover before in different colors and it don't interested me anymore.

But it was a good read still if you just ignore the confusions. I really like the main character, Amelia. She is definitely crazy, a madwoman, but that is why she's so interesting and her attachment to the handsome Nathaniel who a man that is perfect for Amelia, the first man in a book that I don't want for myself.

I might be crazy, but I do recommends this book if you like a hint of otherworldly power mixed with historical fiction.

ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
 Pages: 372
Series: Anna and the French Kiss # 1
 Release Date:  December 2, 2010
Publisher:  Dutton

Goodreads | Amazon

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.

As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near - misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?

Okay, clearly I need to stop doing my review in order and just reviewing with all of my thoughts. So here I go...

Whoa! I think I am one of the last people that just finally finished reading Anna and the French Kiss. Ekk, so embarrassing! <///< So anyways.. the other reviews on this book are mostly right. It's so romance, it makes my heart beat and Stephanie's writing is fantastic! Anna is an interesting and funny main character, she is like the perfect voice for this book and Etienne, Aah the hottie, The English/French/American. Of course there have to be a hottie to get the main character's attention. Etienne can be so sweet, but sometimes he does the most simplest things that make people hurt inside like staying with Ellie for like most of the book! Oh please even we know that he loves Anna. This is one of the most romantic and funniest book I have ever read. The cover is so simple, so if someone didn't recommend it, I wouldn't have read it. I know, I know! Never judge a book by its cover, but so much amazing books have ah-amazing covers! Anyways this is the book for the people that want a good read from the City of Light and the strangest thing is that I am taking French right now hehe.

★★★★ 4/5 Stars

Why the 4? Why not a 5?

Well, you see.. I love this book I really do, but it's not like a WOW to me. It's realistic kind of, but not like fully at all, I am find with that, but it was just something missing... I will totally read Stephenie's other books :)

Take my Breath Away Thursday

Take My Breath Away is a new memo created by pageturnersblog.com. Each Thursday I will post quotes that takes my breath away

“Oh, Lily," He says shaking his head. "I know about love. About wanting and dreaming and wishing with every part of your soul. I know enough to recognize the parts that are real and the parts that are only in my fantasy." He turns his head slightly to face me,
and I find myself saying,"L-like what?"
"Like when she cries and my heart tears in to little shreds, and all I can think of is making her forget the source of her sadness." His face is blank, emotionless. his words -and the underlying emotion bombarding me through the bond- more than make up for it. "That's real."

-Quince and Lily (Forgive my Fins)

“He presses his lips to my jaw, to the corner of my mouth, to my ear. " I promise I'll find you again," he whispers. "I promise you I'll remember you. And I promise I'll love you.”

First Thoughts: I have heard many good things about this book so I decided to check it out from the library.  Cover: I think the cover is stunning. It looks like a portrait and a photo, very nice!

Setting: The setting is in Eastport. I have never been there, but it sounds like a quiet place, but with murders. Interesting.

Characters: Charity is an awesome main character, I really love her voice and her telling of her story. Justin is awesome, I love him so much! He's sweet and would help Charity no matter what and it wasn't his fault that he cheated on her, he was drunk! Gabriel... eh... I don't really know anything about him. All I know is that Clarity feel attachment to him and that's he's hot and the detective's son. That all I know about him, I don't really like him that much.

Plot: The plot is pretty cool, a little mystery that us readers is solving along. Amazing plot with abnormal people like Charity and her family.
